We met working together in a corporate environment managing Marketing and Operations departments. Over our tenure, we found ourselves collaborating - a lot, and became fast friends because of it. We found that the two departments had to support each other in order to scale and provide a seamless customer experience. However, as we worked with more companies in different industries, we saw time and time again how this wasn't the case and how it negatively impacted businesses. Marketing departments would run campaigns that would bring lots of new customers, but fulfillment would struggle to keep up with the demand or fail to respond to inquiries. Or perhaps Operations would change a process or product without notifying Marketing, who now were making promises that they could no longer deliver.
Years later we found ourselves talking about how the industry was lacking this holistic approach to digital media, and how providing services should be more about education and system development and not just websites, ads and pretty pictures. We were both also looking for a new adventure and wanted to have more control over the projects we took on. Out of that conversation was born Larkspur Creative - an agency dedicated to helping businesses navigate the digital space and translate that into their physical businesses.
Jessica is an exceptionally organized and accountable professional. With a range of experience including over 7 years in management, she has directed entire Operations departments - establishing and streamlining processes, developing training programs, writing and maintaining operations manuals, and bringing together knowledge and information across various mediums and departments for maximum effectiveness.
Kristina has pursued her design career with passion and dedication. With over 16 years of professional experience in Print Design, Web Design, Brand Management and Marketing, Kristina effectively develops concepts and creative ideas with long-term brand vision and consistent creative direction, and strategically employs a wide range of design and marketing applications and mediums to bring those concepts to reality.
Choosing a name for a new business is never an easy task. We followed a process of setting a general theme and also specific criteria to help us brainstorm names. After a few conversations, we found ourselves coming back to the idea of “seed” or “sprout”. We liked the idea of having something that evoked nature, as well the idea of growth for our business, our clients and us personally.
Jessica looked to her own garden for inspiration. That year, a seed had been carried away from the main plants and nestled itself on the other side of her garden. We loved this idea - that a plant would not only thrive, but travel from it’s “base of operations” and reach new areas. It was a wonderful metaphor for what digital marketing is all about. After some research into these types of plants, Larkspur was the one that stood out to both of us!
